In order to select a chimney pot that will function properly, consider the top opening in relation to the fireplace opening, and the base dimensions in relation to the flue it is covering. The top opening of the chimney pot should be in ratio to the fireplace opening. The chimney pot opening is often smaller than the effective area of the flue liner in order to reduce the effect of wind on the draft. Many other factors such as fireplace and chimney construction as well as house air pressure can affect proper chimney operation. Ludowici offers terra cotta wall coping in classic standard shapes: Camel Back, Double Slant, Streamline, and Single Slant. All styles come in 9” and 13” to fit most block walls. Double Slant is also available in 18”.
Wall Coping tiles are available in 9 standard glazes with the ability to add custom glazes.
Wall coping is typically manufactured and delivered as a block spanning 2 feet in length. To split the block in the kerf, use a mason’s hammer and chisel to separate. The kerf is the area that has been marked with a saw, or another tool, showing you where the coping should be separated. Tap the kerf once or twice, then tap the coping in the middle, at the bottom, and at the very top of each side. The block will separate during the tapping process.
