Our instructors will take you behind the scenes of manufacturing clay roof tiles and wall cladding. They will share a step-by-step process from the clay mine to the finished building. You will learn how ceramic engineers, technical teams, and clay artisans mold, shape, and assemble various tile profiles, trim, and accessories. We will also discuss the many sustainable benefits of terra cotta.
Terra cotta as a building material is a centuries-old, proven technology. This one-hour program presents the manufacturing process of an all-natural, eco-friendly, highly sustainable roof tile, quarry tile, and small-format wall cladding manufacturing operation. Terra cotta products utilize earth, water, and minerals as an all-natural, extremely malleable material. Manufacturers build upon this inherent potential, creating a beautiful and durable product from day one. Clay products perform for decades without losing color, and has strengths in terms of thermal insulation, ease of installation, and aesthetic quality provide new scope for architectural creativity. Terra cotta is typically produced in single-stage manufacturing, resulting in minimal energy usage and lower embodied carbon than other building materials. Products made from terra cotta are durable, maintenance-free, and economical.
